Valentine's Day

Happy 1st Valentine's Day, Kinsley Grace!!

To celebrate Valentine's Day, Kinsley and I went on our first walk around the block.  It felt so good to get out of the house and get some fresh air.  Kinsley loved riding in her stroller and I even caught a few grins from her!

When we got back home, Kinsley and I had a little photo shoot to show off her Valentine's Day shirt.

When Adam FINALLY got home from baseball practice, I had dinner cooked and the table set with the gifts Kinsley and I got him.  Adam was so sweet to his girls too!!  I got a beautiful Pandora bracelet with a little girl charm...Adam's best Valentine's gift from me--Kinsley.  Kinsley got some teething toys and the Mercer Mayer Valentine's Day book from her daddy.  Adam wrote the sweetest little note inside the book.  We are spoiled so much!!!

To end such a perfect evening, Adam got to feed Kinsley her FIRST BOTTLE!!  He was so excited, it was so cute!  Kinsley had NO problem whatsoever taking a bottle.  When that girl is hungry, she doesn't care where the food is coming from!

The Fun Has Just Begun!!

On Friday, February 1st (Kinsley's due date) we went to her first "check-up" at the Children's Clinic.  We saw Dr. Blake and totally loved him! We know Kinsley will be in good hands with him as her pediatrician.

Kinsley turned one week old on February 4th!  Here is a pictures of her wearing her "just born" sticker that I had ordered from Etsy.  Each month we'll take another picture wearing a sticker :)

Mommy and Kinsley even got to take some pictures together!  Thanks, mom (KayKay), for coming to spend the week with us and taking care of me and my baby!!

We are off to a wonderful start!  Kinsley and I sure do miss her daddy while he's at work but enjoy the time we spend together with him in the evenings and on the weekends!

A Birth Story

I hope to update my blog a little more often now that baby Kinsley is here!  It's hard to believe Adam and I have been together for SEVEN years now and will celebrate our third anniversary this summer!!  We recently made a new addition to our family...a sweet baby girl, Kinsley Grace Harrington.

Adam and I knew that we wanted our family to grow and began "trying" to get pregnant last spring.  Well, it didn't take long!!  I found out in early June that we were expecting and Adam and I couldn't have been more excited.  I had a fairly easy pregnancy without any real cravings or sickness.  Thank goodness!!

Kinsley's due date was February 1, 2013.  As the date grew closer, My doctor, Dr. Ryan Roy, checked my progression at each check-up.  At 38 weeks, I was 3 cm dialated and 70% effaced.  Dr. Roy really didn't think I'd make it til my due date so he offered to induce on January 29th, since he would be on call at the hospital.  Since we knew for sure when Kinsley would make her appearance, Adam and I took the weekend before to relax and spend time together, just the two of us.  Sunday night (January 28th), we went to dinner at Outback, went to WalMart to pick up a few things, and got dessert at YoLo's.  When we got home, we watched a movie and got ready for bed.  It was a perfect night.

As I was taking out my contacts around 10:15, I was having trouble getting my left one out.  I called Adam into the bathroom to help.  As he was pouring drops in my eye, I felt a little trickle come out.  I told Adam to stop, and then informed him that I either just peed on myself or my water broke!  He brought me another pair of panties, which became wet almost as soon as I put them on!  At this point, I was calm but freaking out at the same time!  I sat down on the toilet so I didn't get water everywhere and Adam called our neighbor, Tameka, who works at the Women's Clinic.  She told us to go ahead and call the hospital and probably needed to head on there.  Adam called the hospital and talked to Dr. Boyapoti.  He told me to lie down for about an hour and see if the leaking stopped and if it didn't, then my water had probably broken and head to the hospital.  Well, I laid down for about 5 minutes and then decided it was time to go!

Adam ran around the house getting last minute things put into a bag and got the car packed.  He then loaded me up and we were on our way.  By the time we got to the hospital and I got admitted to Labor and Delivery, it was close to midnight.  The nurse checked to see if my water had broken and confirmed that it had.  A doctor then checked to see how much I was dialated and I was at 4 cm.  I wasn't really feeing any contractions at this point, but had to go to the bathroom constantly.

I was finally moved to a delivery room where the contractions finally kicked in.  HOLY COW did they hurt!!  Adam was constantly rubbing my back trying to help me relax but he contractions were coming every 2-3 minutes and I didn't really have any down time.  My parents and Mike arrived sometime after 2 a.m., just about the time I got my epidural.  It took about an hour for the epidural to fully kick in, but once it did, I could finally relax.  The nurse came in and put in to check me again and I had already dialated to 9 cm.  We just had to wait for Kinsley to drop.  Around 5:30 I finally fell asleep, only to be awakened at 6:30 by the nurse saying it was time to push!!  Oh how I could have used a few more hours of sleep, but I was so excited to meet our daughter that I really didn't care!

I pushed from 6:30 a.m. until 7:08 a.m. when Kinsley Grace Harrington made her grand entrance into the world!  Adam was fantastic the entire time, holding my hand, putting ice chips in my mouth, and making sure I was okay.  As soon as she was out, the nurse put Kinsley on my chest.  She was beautiful!!  I couldn't believe that she had grown inside of me for 9 months and now she was here, a wonderful, perfect baby!!  The nurse (I had different nurses when she was born that when I was in labor because nurses changed shift at 7 a.m.  Talk about a crazy delivery room!) then took Kinsley to get cleaned up, measured, and weighed.  Adam got to put her first diaper on her.  I have never seen a more proud daddy!!

We are so in love with our baby girl and could not imagine a more better life!

Fall 2010

Life has been QUITE BUSY since my last post!! Married life is going great so far and we love spending time together. Our house is coming together...there are still some things I would like, but I'll have to be patient and get them when a little at a time!!

We entertained some friends for a fall party and had a blast!! We had a cookout, played games, and made s'mores. Here are some pics of the party:

Chance and Lexi are getting sooo big!! Chance now has his HR Title and Adam will begin working with Lexi in a couple months to get hers. Lexi is definitely a mess...and a LOT of trouble. She already chewed through our patio furniture. :( Needless to say, she now has to stay in the kennel while we are gone.

We were lucky enough to get a week off for fall break so we took a trip to Gulf Shores and went camping for a few days. We had so much fun and it was so good to get away for a little while. We might even make it a fall break tradition!!

It's Finally Ours!!!

Last Friday, Adam and I FINALLY closed on our house!!! We were sooo excited because it has definitely been a long time coming!!! Our closing couldn't have come at a more perfect time since my parents had purchased us a refrigerator and it had to be picked up from Sears that Saturday. So Saturday morning we got up pretty early (for a Saturday) and made it to Sears around 9:15 only to find out that it didn't open to Sears. We didn't let that stop us though!! We decided to head on over to WalMart to pick up some cleaning supplies. We made it back to Sears just as it was opening and got our fridge loaded up. Then Adam and I and my mom, dad, and Mike headed to Jackson for an afternoon of cleaning.
Once we got to the house, mom and I headed to the kitchen to start scrubbing the cabinets and counters while the guys struggled to get the fridge unloaded. Fortunately, we have some fabulous neighbors who came over and gave the guys a hand. I don't think they could have done it without their help!!!
While there is still a lot of cleaning and touchups to be done, we are slowly making progress. Adam's mom and I went to clean more on Wednesday and Adam started repainting the stairs and baseboards on Thursday.
Sunday after we closed, Adam and I hit up Ashley Furniture for their Memorial Day sale so we could order our furniture. I LOVE all the stuff we ordered and can't wait for it to come in!! We spent a LOT of money on it...but it will totally be worth it once we are settled in and starting our new life together!! :) We also went to Sears to order a washing machine, dryer, and microwave. We are going this weekend to pick them up and then all the guys (Adam, my dad, and his dad) are going to spend Saturday installing everything! I'm excited because I'll finally be able to wash all our new linens!
We have definitely had a busy week...and I am sure next week will be even busier. I am still working on wedding stuff but hope to have most of it finished by next week so I can just relax the week before the wedding!

Paint Party!!

Today, Bebe, my neighbor, threw me one of the most amazing bridal showers/parties! We had a paint party!!!

Everyone who came to the shower got to decorate a holiday plate, which would be given to me as a gift. How cool is that?! Let me tell you...I wasn't too sure how everyone would feel about hanging out and painting a plate, but let me tell you, we had a BLAST!!!!

Bebe spent soooo much time getting everything ready for today. First, she had to go and buy 20 platters and prime them so we could paint on them. Then she spent much time looking up ideas for each holiday online so she could sketch an outline on every plate. Adam and I now have so many beautiful plates to display throughout the year!!! Bebe also sketched AND colored a sample of each plate so every "artist" would know what to do. Talk about being prepared! All that work and I haven't even mentioned all the food!! We had a veggie tray, chex mix, chips and dip, grapes on skewers, and more...and a DELICIOUS cake with a little palette. Too cute!!

We all had so much fun and really got into painting. I am so glad I got to spend time with friends I love and that I now have a truly special gift from each of them.

Here are some of the amazing pictures from today:
